About EcoSafe — Pest Control Melbourne Since 2009

From Melbourne's dockyards to your front door

Most pest control companies will tell you they know Melbourne. Ours started in it — in the dockyards, the flour mills and the industrial back blocks, long before there was a company name on the van.

They called him the rat boy

Ryan was fourteen when he started working in pest control, back in 1998. Not in an office, and not on a training course — in Melbourne’s dockyards and flour mills, in the industrial areas where the rodent problems were serious and the work was learned by doing it.

The blokes on those sites called him the rat boy. It stuck.

Twenty-eight years on, that is still the foundation of how EcoSafe works. You learn things crawling through a flour mill at fifteen that you cannot learn from a manual: how rodents actually move through a building, which Melbourne suburbs turn over which pests and in which season, why one warehouse gets hammered every autumn while the one next door never does. You learn the city — its geography, its industry, its buildings and its habits.

That knowledge is why EcoSafe technicians turn up already knowing what they are likely to find.

What that means when we turn up

Technicians who are actually trained. Every EcoSafe technician is qualified and goes through rigorous ongoing training. Pest control is a licensed trade for a reason — the difference between a technician who understands what they are applying and one following a script shows up in whether the pests come back.

Best-in-class methods and products. We invest in current technology and proven products rather than doing it the way it has always been done. That includes digital monitoring for commercial sites, which flags activity in real time instead of waiting for the next scheduled visit.

A plan built around your property. A weatherboard in Werribee, a restaurant kitchen in the CBD and a distribution warehouse in Laverton are three different problems, and so is a termite inspection on a period home. We treat them that way.

Local people, not a call centre. When you call 1300 852 339, you are dealing with a Victorian family business — not a national franchise routing you to whoever is closest.

Documentation that stands up to an audit. Sites with compliance obligations get reporting their auditors will accept, not a scribbled invoice after the fact.

Why EcoSafe started

Ryan and Leah founded EcoSafe Pest Control in 2009. After years of working across Melbourne’s toughest pest control environments, Ryan had formed a clear view: the industry was reaching for chemicals far more often than it needed to, and most customers had no idea what was being sprayed around their homes and workplaces — or why.

They shared that concern. And unlike most people raising it, Ryan knew exactly what the products were, how they worked, and where a less damaging approach would do the job just as well.

That is the whole idea behind EcoSafe. Not chemical-free — that promise usually is not honest, and we will not make it. What we do is use the least environmentally damaging method that will actually solve your problem, applied by people who understand the difference. Sometimes that means a targeted treatment instead of a blanket spray. Sometimes it means proofing a building rather than baiting it repeatedly. It always means you will be told what we are using and why.

There are a handful of operators in Melbourne who work this way. There are not many.

Choosing a pest control company Melbourne homeowners can actually trust

There is not much regulation stopping anyone from buying a spray unit and calling themselves a pest controller, which is why the difference between one pest control company Melbourne wide and the next can be enormous. These are the things worth checking before you let anyone treat your home, and they are the standards we hold ourselves to.

  • Licensed technicians. Ask for the licence, not just the promise. Ours are licensed and the business is fully insured.
  • A written scope. You should know what is being applied, where, and what the warranty covers before anyone starts.
  • Product transparency. We publish the safety data sheets for everything we use on our SDS and product information page.
  • Treating the cause. Killing what you can see is easy. Finding the nest, the harbourage or the moisture problem is the job.
  • Someone who is still there in six months. We have been family owned and operated since 2009 and we still service the same suburbs.
